Yao Xue is a multimedia artist and designer. She draws inspiration from social realities, paying close attention to overlooked details and subtle emotions in everyday life-moments that, she believes, often reveal societal truths more incisively than grand narratives. Her practice begins at the margins and in the minutiae, offering a distinctive perspective on the relationship between individuals and the world. 


In her creative practice, Yao integrates film, sound, spatial design, 3D modeling and interactive technologies to explore the intersections between social issues and personal experience. She regards art as an ongoing process of reflection and dialogue rather than merely a form of aesthetic presentation. 
Her works often take the form of immersive narratives and sensory environments, guiding audiences into spaces that oscillate between reality and fiction, where perception flows and viewers are invited to reconsider their own position within broader social  structures.


Yao is particularly attentive to the tensions between technology and the body, perception and power, revealing experiences obscured by algorithmic logic, information overload, and visual regimes. For her, creation is not only a mode of visual expression but also a critical intervention in reality — a way to rethink the dynamics of seeing and being seen.
